Sterlite Technologies Limited (STLTECH) breaks below support, falls 5%
Sterlite Technologies Limited (STLTECH) experiences a 5% intraday decline, breaking below its support line. Current price stands at ₹514.3.
Sterlite Technologies Limited (STLTECH) breaks below support, falling 5% to ₹514.3 on the NSE on 17 Jul 2026. The decline comes as the stock has broken below its 6-month support trendline, signaling a shift from consolidating upwards to a breakdown. This move is specific to the company, as it contrasts with the broader technology sector, which has shown more stability. STLTECH’s recent performance indicates a need for caution, especially given its current valuation and growth metrics.
Technical setup — trendlines & DMA
From a technical standpoint, STLTECH’s 6-month support trendline was at ₹686.85, and the stock has now fallen below this level by 33.55%. The resistance trendline stands at ₹824.76, which is 60.37% above the current price. The 50-day moving average (DMA) is at ₹537.4, slightly above the current price, while the 200-DMA is at ₹246.0, indicating a significant recovery from longer-term lows. The stock is currently in the upper third of its 52-week range, suggesting that while there is room for further downside, a large portion of the potential move may already be priced in.
Snapshot: ₹514.30 on 2026-07-17 (chart frozen at publication)
Fundamentals & business context
Fundamentally, STLTECH presents a complex picture. With a PE ratio of 454.9 and profit margins at 1.2%, the valuation appears stretched relative to current earnings. The revenue CAGR of -11.3% and profit CAGR of -26.5% over the past five years further underscore the challenges the company faces. Institutional ownership stands at 18.5%, indicating that while some smart money is invested, the overall sentiment among institutional investors may be cautious. There was no specific NSE catalyst today, so the move appears to be driven by technical factors and broader market sentiment.
Algorithmic scorecard
The algorithmic scorecard reflects a technically strong but fundamentally weak profile for STLTECH. The strongest signals include the bullish trend indicated by the 50-DMA being above the 200-DMA and the stock’s significant year-to-date gain of 371.5%. These factors suggest that while the stock has shown strong momentum over the past year, it is currently facing technical weakness as it breaks below support. On the weaker side, the declining revenue and profit CAGRs, coupled with the low profit margin of 1.2%, highlight the fundamental risks. Additionally, the negligible dividend yield of 0% means there is little income generation for investors, adding to the overall risk profile.
Company outlook
Management provided a mixed outlook in the Q4FY26 concall. On the positive side, they expect a positive impact on margins from the reduction in U.S. tariffs, though this will be offset by increased costs due to geopolitical issues. The company aims to achieve a 20% EBITDA margin by the end of Q4. They are focusing on long-term contracts rather than spot market sales to mitigate cyclical risks and are in ongoing discussions with hyperscalers for long-term partnerships. Additionally, STLTECH plans to invest approximately INR 500 crores to upgrade its asset base and support its high-value data center portfolio offerings. The focus remains on securing long-term contracts and relationships with telecom operators and data centers.

Project Details
The 57.5 MW/115 MWh BESS project will be developed under a 12-year BOOT model, with a capital outlay of approximately Rs. 179.4 crore. The project is slated for completion within seven months. Strategic Growth
This award adds to Pace Digitek’s recent BESS wins, including a Rs. 488.6 crore order from NTPC GE Power Services Private Limited for a standalone BESS in September 2026. The company has been progressively building capabilities across the energy storage value chain, including BESS manufacturing, system integration, equipment supply, EPC execution, and long-term ownership and operation of storage assets. Since the end of Q1 FY2027, the company has secured Rs. 761 crore of additional orders, further strengthening its order visibility.
As a result, Pace Digitek intends to build on its manufacturing and execution capabilities and selectively expand its presence across the energy storage market. Commenting on the development, Mr. Venugopal Rao Maddisetty, Chairman & Managing Director, Pace Digitek Limited, said: “The BSES award is another important milestone in the development of our Energy business and marks our fifth utility-scale BOO/BOOT storage project. It reinforces the capabilities we have built across BESS manufacturing, project execution, and long-term asset operations. We remain focused on disciplined execution, scaling our manufacturing capabilities, and selectively building a portfolio of contracted energy infrastructure assets, while continuing to serve the evolving requirements of India’s power and renewable energy ecosystem.”
