Gujarat Energy Limited Sets New Financial Benchmark: Highest Ever Dividend Paid to Government of Gujarat in FY 2025-26
Gujarat Energy Limited (GUJENERGY) pays highest ever Rs. 324 Crores dividend to Government of Gujarat in FY 2025-26.
Gujarat Energy Limited (GUJENERGY) has set a new financial benchmark by making the highest ever dividend payout of Rs. 324 Crores to the Government of Gujarat for the financial year 2025-26. This record payout marks a defining moment for GUJENERGY and GSPL Transmission Limited (GTL), as it is the highest dividend paid by any single State PSU to the Government of Gujarat in a single financial year. The Scheme of Amalgamation & Arrangement involving GSPC Group of Companies was approved by the Government of Gujarat, the Board of Directors, Shareholders, and received final regulatory approval by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Under this scheme, Gujarat Gas Limited was rechristened as Gujarat Energy Limited upon amalgamation of GSPC into GGL.
Record Dividend Payout
The record payout has significantly increased the Government of Gujarat’s holding in Gujarat Energy Limited from about 6% to about 38%. Similarly, the Government of Gujarat’s holding in GTL has increased to about 38%. This financial milestone was achieved following the Scheme of Arrangement that came into effect from 1st May 2026. Notably, prior to this scheme, the total dividend payout for three financial years by Gujarat Gas to the Government of Gujarat aggregated to approximately Rs. 81.55 Crores. Post the scheme becoming effective, Gujarat Energy has paid a whopping Rs. 324 Crores in dividend to the Government of Gujarat for the single financial year of 2025-26.
Significance of the Scheme
According to Shri M. K. Das, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat and Chairman of both Gujarat Energy Limited and GSPL Transmission Limited, this record payout is a defining moment for both companies. Smt. Avantika Singh, IAS, Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Limited and Vice Chairperson of GSPL Transmission Limited, expressed that the older corporate structure previously limited their ability to maximize dividend payouts to the Government of Gujarat. The Scheme of Arrangement has proven to be the definitive turning point, allowing them to unleash their true financial potential and contribute robustly to the State’s growth and development initiatives.
