Hindustan Zinc Limited Hindzinc Renewable Power Consumption FY28

Hindustan Zinc Limited (BSE: 500188 | NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has increased the share of renewable power in its overall power consumption to 22%, up from approximately 18% in FY26. This marks continued progress in its clean energy transition. The company is progressing towards meeting approximately 70% of its overall power requirements through renewable energy by FY28.

Renewable Power Expansion

To support this target, Hindustan Zinc expanded its round-the-clock renewable energy power delivery agreement with Serentica Renewables from 450 MW to 530 MW. The company is also advancing its energy transition by upgrading power connectivity from the state transmission network to the central transmission utility, alongside implementing innovative in-house projects that support a cleaner, more resilient and energy-efficient future.

Sustainability Initiatives

Key initiatives include enhancing waste heat recovery boiler steam turbine generation through efficiency improvements and harnessing renewable energy through floating solar installations on water ponds. These efforts form an integral part of Hindustan Zinc’s broader sustainability roadmap and support its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated decarbonization pathway towards achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 or sooner.

Hindustan falls 11.9% over three months and has not found a floor yet. Industry-leading margins of 38.1% reflect exceptional pricing power and operational efficiency. The PEG of 1.47 sits close to fair value. The stock is neither a clear buy nor obviously expensive. The stock gains 6.5% in the last month, recovering from the three-month slide. However, it is too early to call this a confirmed reversal. Both the business and the stock move in the right direction. Revenue grows at 5.6%, profits at 9.6%, and the PEG sits at 1.47 — below its growth rate. That combination is rare. Check Fundamentals of Hindustan Zinc Limited.

Indo gains 19.7% over three months and trades near its 52-week highs. Margins at 23.3% are impressive but need to be sustained — any compression would be a red flag. Revenue contracts at -1.4% CAGR. That signals structural headwinds, not a short-term blip. The stock gives back 9.0% in the last month despite a positive three-month run. As a result, the earlier momentum appears to be fading. The stock holds up despite -1.4% revenue growth and a PEG of 99.00. That could signal an early turnaround. Alternatively, index flows simply support the price.
