Algorithmic scorecard

Wakefit’s overall algorithmic scorecard reflects a balanced but cautious outlook, with strengths in revenue growth and financial health offset by weaknesses in profit growth and market performance. The excellent revenue CAGR of 23.2% and very low debt with a D/E of 0.00 are strong signals, indicating robust top-line growth and solid financial footing. Conversely, the declining profit CAGR and the stock’s poor performance over the last year, down 33.6%, are significant risks that investors should consider. The bullish sentiment in the last 30 days, with a 2.1x higher average volume on up days, suggests some accumulation, but the stock’s position near yearly lows and negative momentum across timeframes highlight the challenges ahead.

Company outlook

Wakefit’s management has outlined an ambitious plan for FY ’27, aiming for at least a 20% growth while managing margins. They anticipate a minor impact on gross margin in Q1 FY ’27 due to price hikes, with potential for better margins in Q2 if prices normalize. The focus is on growing value rather than just volume, with plans to drive revenue growth through the mattress portfolio and expanding the reach of furniture and furnishing businesses. Wakefit plans to add more than 80 stores net in FY ’27, with a focus on Tier 2 cities, and open Jumbo stores in FY ’28. Capex for FY ’27 is planned between INR120 crores to INR140 crores, primarily for retail expansion.

The holds in the upper half of its 52-week range, a sign the market backs the stock. Premium net margins of 20.9% demonstrate strong cost discipline and a wide competitive moat. The business compounds revenue at 18.6% and profits at 27.6% CAGR. That is strong double-digit growth on both counts. Buyers show up with 2.0x the volume of sellers. Moreover, they dominated on 17 of recent sessions versus 13 for sellers — a healthy accumulation pattern. The business grows revenue at 18.6% and profits at 27.6%, with D/E of 0.25. The stock reflects that strength. Moreover, when fundamentals and price action align, the PEG of 1.86 premium is usually justified. Check Fundamentals of The Indian Hotels Company Limited.

Mahindra falls 10.4% over three months and has not found a floor yet. D/E reaches 4.41. High leverage in this environment is a material risk the market cannot ignore. Razor-thin margins below 5% make profitability extremely vulnerable — this business needs scale or pricing power urgently. The stock gains 3.9% in the last month, recovering from the three-month slide. However, it is too early to call this a confirmed reversal. Revenue grows at 5.9% CAGR and the PEG stands at 99.00. The growth does not match the price the market asks. Furthermore, flat price action adds no technical catalyst. A lower price or faster revenue growth would improve the odds. Vishal falls 13.0% over three months and has not found a floor yet. Thin margins at 6.6% leave limited room for error — any demand softness or cost spike hits the bottom line hard. The business compounds revenue at 19.4% and profits at 37.7% CAGR. That is strong double-digit growth on both counts. The stock sits at 2% of its 52-week range, close to annual lows. Historically, value investors build positions at these levels — though cheap stocks can stay cheap. Revenue grows at 19.4% and profits at 37.7% CAGR, with D/E of 0.00. Meanwhile, the stock dips 13.0% in three months without any fundamental deterioration. Consequently, the stock quietly becomes cheaper relative to earnings power. For long-term investors, that is a feature. Check Fundamentals of Vishal Mega Mart Limited.
