Oil India Limited OIL October 2026 Discovery

Oil India Limited (OIL) has made a significant stride in its quest for hydrocarbons with the discovery of natural gas in the Krishna Godavari Basin. The well Godavari-1, drilled as an appraisal well in the discovered small field block KG-DSF/GSKW/2018, reported the presence of hydrocarbon in the depth range of 2024 to 2027 meters.

Discovery Details

Production testing of the zone started from October 16, 2026, and resulted in the flow of natural gas to the surface at a flow rate of about 1 Lakh SCUMD, with a maximum flow rate of 2 Lakh SCUMD achieved on continuous testing. The composition of condensate was about 170 bopd (API @ 60 °F is 55.8), and water was produced with a well head pressure of 1815 psi.

Future Prospects

Presently, preparations are on for testing the next higher up zone. This discovery marks a pivotal moment for Oil India Limited as it continues to explore and develop its offshore assets in the Krishna Godavari Basin. The successful discovery will likely boost the company’s exploration efforts and contribute to its overall hydrocarbon reserves.

Chennai gains 17.2% over three months and trades near its 52-week highs. Thin margins at 5.5% leave limited room for error — any demand softness or cost spike hits the bottom line hard. The 4.29% dividend yield is about the only thing keeping income investors interested right now. The stock gives back 3.4% in the last month despite a positive three-month run. As a result, the earlier momentum appears to be fading. The stock holds up despite -6.0% revenue growth and a PEG of 99.00. That could signal an early turnaround. Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited Gmdcltd FY 2025-26 Dividend

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC), one of India’s leading mining public sector enterprises, announced a final dividend of ₹223.55 crore for FY 2025-26. This substantial payout includes a final dividend of ₹9.50 per share (475%) for the fiscal year. The total dividend payout amounts to ₹302.10 crore, of which ₹223.55 crore accrues to the Government of Gujarat, which holds 74% of GMDC’s equity.

Record Dividend Payment

The dividend, recommended by the Board of Directors on May 14, 2026, was approved by shareholders at the Company’s 63rd Annual General Meeting held on September 30, 2026. This follows a year in which GMDC reported a standalone profit after tax of ₹990.81 crore, against ₹687.92 crore in FY 2024-25. The year’s profit includes an exceptional gain of ₹522.65 crore from input tax credit following GST rate rationalisation on lignite.

Commitment to Dividend Policy

The total dividend corresponds to about 30% of standalone profit after tax, in keeping with GMDC’s commitment to the Government of Gujarat’s progressive dividend policy for State public sector enterprises. Including this payout, GMDC’s dividends to the Government of Gujarat across the last five financial years, FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26, total more than ₹1,050 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ajay Bhadu, IAS, Managing Director, GMDC, said: “Taking charge at GMDC, I am conscious that every rupee we return to the State is a return on Gujarat’s own mineral wealth, and it belongs to its people. This dividend reflects the financial discipline GMDC has built over the years. Our task now is to carry that discipline into the Company’s next phase: strengthening our lignite business, advancing our coal and critical mineral projects, and growing responsibly, so that GMDC continues to create lasting value for the State, our shareholders and the communities around our operations.”

Lignite remains the mainstay of GMDC’s business. Alongside it, the Company is building a diversified portfolio spanning three coal blocks in Odisha, copper and rare earth elements projects, and 205.9 MW of wind and solar capacity, positioning GMDC as a responsible, future-ready contributor to Gujarat’s growth and India’s resource security.
