Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (dwarkesh) Q1 FY27: PAT Loss Widens, Sugar Production Dips
Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (DWARKESH) reports a widening PAT loss in Q1 FY27, driven by lower sugar and ethanol segment contributions.
Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (DWARKESH) has announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. In Q1 FY27, the company reported a loss before tax (LBT) of Rs. 34.38 crore and a loss after tax (LAT) of Rs. 25.73 crore compared to LBT of Rs. 13.03 crore and LAT of Rs. 9.38 crore during Q1 FY26. The total income for the quarter stood at Rs. 360.07 crore against Rs. 405.97 crore in the same quarter last year. The financial performance was impacted by lower contribution from the sugar and ethanol segments, as well as the absence of by-product sales. Although sugar realizations improved during the quarter, the benefit was largely offset by the sale of high-cost opening inventory produced during Sugar Season 2025-26, when the higher State Advised Price (SAP) of sugarcane increased production costs, resulting in lower sugar margins.
Sugar Production and Market Outlook
Sugar production for Sugar Season 2025-26 is expected to be significantly lower than the estimates released earlier in the season. The net sugar production achieved as of date stands at around 276 lakh tons. With only a few mills still in operation, the season is now expected to conclude with net sugar production of around 280 lakh tons. Ex-factory sugar prices, which averaged around ₹4,000 per quintal during FY 2025-26, witnessed a modest improvement during the first quarter of FY 2026-27. The upward momentum has continued, with prices currently ruling in the range of ₹4,200–4,300 per quintal. Supported by steady domestic demand and a balanced supply outlook, sugar prices are expected to remain firm in the near term.
Operational Insights
The Company remains focused on enhancing cane availability in the ensuing sugar season. The initiatives undertaken over the past year are beginning to yield encouraging results, as reflected in an improved varietal balance and satisfactory crop development observed thus far. However, the eventual cane availability will largely depend on weather conditions during the critical post-September period. Subject to normal weather conditions and the absence of any major climatic aberrations, the Company expects a healthy sugarcane crop in the coming season.

This presentation will provide detailed insights into the company’s financial performance and sector outlook for the period. The company’s three plants, located in Uttar Pradesh, India’s largest sugar-producing state, are well-positioned to leverage the current favorable market conditions. Notably, the sector outlook indicates a modest surplus in global sugar production, with prices expected to remain firm due to production concerns.
Sector Outlook
The global sugar market is currently experiencing a modest surplus, with production estimated at 180.7 MMT for 2026-27 against consumption of 179.6 MMT. However, potential disruptions due to El Niño could tighten supply-demand balances. Domestically, sugar prices have strengthened, with ex-factory prices rising from Rs. 4,000 to over Rs. 4,700 per quintal in Q2 FY 2026-27. The government has implemented measures to stabilize prices and ensure adequate supply, including banning the use of B-heavy molasses for ethanol production.

These plants benefit from large, clearly defined cane-producing areas and are well-connected to major sugar-consuming markets. Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (dwarkesh) Q2 FY27: Loss After Tax Down ₹19.50 Crore, Sugar Prices Recover
Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (DWARKESH) reports a ₹13.12 crore Loss After Tax for Q2 FY27, down ₹19.
Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited (DWARKESH) announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter and six months ended September 30, 2026. In Q2 FY27, the company reported a Loss After Tax (LAT) of ₹13.12 crore, compared to a LAT of ₹32.62 crore in Q2 FY26. For H1 FY27, the company reported a LAT of ₹38.85 crore, as against ₹42.01 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Financial Performance Overview
The financial performance for the quarter and half-year under review was adversely impacted by the significant decline in operational activities, as no crushing operations were undertaken. The reduced operations led to under-absorption of fixed overheads, further impacting profitability. Additionally, the liquidation of high-value inventory during the quarter, unlike the corresponding period of the previous year, resulted in lower contribution margins. The non-availability of feedstock also prevented ethanol production, adversely affecting the results for both the quarter and half-year.
Sugar Market Dynamics
Sugar prices, which were hovering around Rs. 4,100 per quintal during the previous quarter, have witnessed recovery, averaging over Rs. 4,500 per quintal during the quarter and currently prevailing at approximately Rs. 4,700 per quintal. Going forward, prices may moderate with the commencement of fresh sugar supplies from mills in Maharashtra. However, in view of the anticipated production constraints and the overall supply-demand scenario, sugar prices are expected to remain firm in the medium term.
Crushing operations for Sugar Season (SS) 2026–27 are expected to commence on 5th November 2026 at the DN and DP units in Bijnor district and on 11th November 2026 at the DD unit in Bareilly district. The Company remains optimistic about the season and anticipates improved crushing volumes despite excessive, unseasonal rainfall during September and early October.
