Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited ONGC Q1 FY’27 New Well Gas Revenue

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (NSE: ONGC) reported a significant increase in revenue from new well gas during Q1 FY’27. The company’s revenue from new well gas stood at ₹ 3,998 crore, delivering an additional ₹ 1,897 crore compared to the APM gas price. This marks a substantial contribution to ONGC’s total revenue, now accounting for approximately 38% of the total revenue from the ONGC nomination gas portfolio.

Financial Performance

The consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) for the quarter was significantly impacted by HPCL’s consolidated net loss of ₹12,265 crore. However, the strong performance of other subsidiaries, including ONGC Videsh and MRPL, provided a positive contribution to the Group’s overall financial performance. Despite this, ONGC’s consolidated gross revenue for Q1 FY’27 stood at ₹ 2,04,987 crore, up 25.7% compared to ₹ 1,63,106 crore in Q1 FY’26.

Production Performance

Oil and gas production remained flat during Q1 FY27, maintaining the momentum achieved in Western Offshore during Q4 FY26. The reduction in quarterly production compared to the corresponding period of FY’26 is primarily attributed to complexities in reservoir behavior of KG-98/2 in Eastern Offshore, operational disruptions at customer facilities, and temporary closing of wells during pre-commissioning/commissioning activities of major projects. However, the production decline trend is expected to be arrested and progressively reversed through the successful execution of strategic projects such as DUDP, TSP, and DSF.

Oil falls 13.8% over three months and has not found a floor yet. Thin margins at 6.3% leave limited room for error — any demand softness or cost spike hits the bottom line hard. A 7.63% dividend yield is exceptional — this stock acts like a high-yield bond with equity upside. The stock gains 1.8% in the last month, recovering from the three-month slide. However, it is too early to call this a confirmed reversal. Revenue grows at 1.7% and the stock moves sideways over three months. Neither side makes a strong case. The next earnings print will likely break this stock out of its current range. Check Fundamentals of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited.

Oil falls 10.2% over three months and has not found a floor yet. D/E of 0.00 and a 6.45% dividend yield give the balance sheet a decent cushion. Thin margins at 6.2% leave limited room for error — any demand softness or cost spike hits the bottom line hard. The stock sits at 4% of its 52-week range, close to annual lows. Historically, value investors build positions at these levels — though cheap stocks can stay cheap. Revenue grows at -1.3% CAGR — a respectable pace. However, the stock drops 10.2% in three months without an obvious fundamental trigger. Sector-wide pressure or a valuation re-rating can persist for longer than expected.
