Capital Markets Activity
Q1 FY27 saw mixed capital market activity compared to the previous quarter. Derivatives volumes returned to long-term run rates, while cash market volumes remained strong, driven by proprietary and retail participation. Primary market activity picked up after a subdued second half of FY26, aided by easing geopolitical tensions and lower crude oil prices.
Sector Performance
Cyclical sectors such as BFSI and automobiles saw a recovery, supported by declining crude oil prices. Chemicals and real estate also emerged as strong performers. Defensive sectors like healthcare and FMCG lagged due to elevated valuations. The IPO market showed gradual improvement, with investor confidence strengthening as market conditions stabilize.
Looking Ahead
The outlook for the remainder of FY27 will be shaped by geopolitical and macroeconomic developments. The evolving situation in the Middle East and the progress of the monsoon will be closely watched. A favourable monsoon could help keep inflation under control and support domestic consumption, providing a constructive backdrop for capital markets.

Fundamental & Technical Analysis of Emkay Global Financial Services Limited
Emkay Global Financial Services Limited belongs to the Financial Services › Capital Markets sector. Here’s a quick read on where the business and the stock stand today.
Emkay posts a 4.3% three-month gain, but softens in the last few weeks. The PEG stands at 16.62 — severely stretched. Any earnings miss could trigger a sharp de-rating. Razor-thin margins below 5% make profitability extremely vulnerable — this business needs scale or pricing power urgently. The stock gives back 14.8% in the last month despite a positive three-month run. As a result, the earlier momentum appears to be fading. Revenue grows at 21.4% CAGR — a respectable pace. However, the stock drops 4.3% in three months without an obvious fundamental trigger. Sector-wide pressure or a valuation re-rating can persist for longer than expected. Therefore, there is no rush to step in. Check Fundamentals of Emkay Global Financial Services Limited.

Fundamental & Technical Analysis of Geojit Financial Services Limited
Geojit Financial Services Limited belongs to the Financial Services › Capital Markets sector. Here’s a quick read on where the business and the stock stand today.
Geojit holds in the upper half of its 52-week range, a sign the market backs the stock. Revenue contracts at 14.1% CAGR. That signals structural headwinds, not a short-term blip. The stock gains 0.1% in the last month, recovering from the three-month slide. However, it is too early to call this a confirmed reversal. Revenue grows at 14.1% CAGR and the PEG stands at 99.00. The growth does not match the price the market asks. Furthermore, flat price action adds no technical catalyst. A lower price or faster revenue growth would improve the odds.
