Fundamental & Technical Analysis of Tata Power Company Limited
Tata Power Company Limited belongs to the Utilities › Utilities – Independent Power Producers sector. Here’s a quick read on where the business and the stock stand today.
Tata falls 8.1% over three months and has not found a floor yet. The PEG stands at 7.33 — severely stretched. Any earnings miss could trigger a sharp de-rating. Thin margins at 6.1% leave limited room for error — any demand softness or cost spike hits the bottom line hard. The stock sits at 3% of its 52-week range, close to annual lows. Historically, value investors build positions at these levels — though cheap stocks can stay cheap. Revenue grows at 4.1% yet the PEG reaches 7.33 — expensive for that growth. Furthermore, the stock drops 8.1% in three months. Neither value nor momentum supports this setup. It needs an earnings beat or a price reset first. Check Fundamentals of Tata Power Company Limited.

Tata Power Company Limited (tatapower) Partners with Norway’s Ocean Sun to Bring Innovative Membrane-based Floating Solar Technology to India
Tata Power partners with Norway’s Ocean Sun to introduce membrane-based floating solar technology in India, launching a 300 kWp pilot at Mulshi reservoir.
Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, has partnered with Norway-based renewable energy technology company Ocean Sun to bring its innovative membrane-based floating solar technology to India. The collaboration agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 2nd India–EFTA Prosperity Summit, reinforcing the growing India–Norway and India–EFTA partnership in technology, innovation, and clean energy.
Pilot Project at Mulshi Reservoir
The collaboration will see Tata Power and Ocean Sun undertake a ~300 kWp floating solar pilot at Tata Power’s Mulshi reservoir in Maharashtra. The pilot will evaluate Ocean Sun’s proprietary membrane-based floating solar technology for performance, reliability, cost competitiveness, and scalability under Indian conditions, while generating practical operating insights for potential future deployment.
Potential and Benefits
India has significant potential for floating solar deployment. According to estimates by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), the country has more than 102 GWp of floating solar potential, providing a substantial opportunity for the technology to complement ground-mounted and rooftop solar as India scales its renewable energy ecosystem. The ~300 kWp pilot will enable Tata Power to evaluate Ocean Sun’s technology against conventional floating solar solutions across key parameters, including energy generation, capacity utilization factor (CUF), installation methodology and time, reliability, operations and maintenance (O&M) requirements, capital cost, and overall commercial viability.
Unlike conventional floating solar systems that typically use interconnected pontoon structures, Ocean Sun’s technology deploys solar PV modules on a thin, hydro-elastic membrane that floats directly on the water surface. The lightweight design has the potential to simplify transportation and installation while reducing structural requirements. The close proximity of the PV modules to the water surface may also provide a cooling effect, which could contribute to improved generation performance.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director Tata Power, said: “At Tata Power, innovation is central to accelerating India’s clean energy transition. Our collaboration with Ocean Sun reflects our commitment to bringing advanced global technologies to India and evaluating their potential in real-world conditions. Through this floating solar pilot, we aim to generate valuable operating insights and assess its potential to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective clean power solutions.”
The collaboration comes at an important juncture for India’s floating solar sector, which is expected to assume a growing role in the country’s renewable energy transition. By enabling solar generation from suitable water bodies, floating solar can help reduce dependence on land while offering opportunities for co-benefits such as reduced water evaporation and potentially enhanced PV performance.
As a pioneer in India’s clean energy transition, Tata Power remains committed to achieving Net Zero by 2045 and continues to partner with public and private stakeholders to deliver reliable, sustainable, and technology-led energy solutions across the country.

Tata Power Commissions 400kv Jalpura-khurja Transmission Corridor Strengthening Ncr’s Power Infrastructure
Tata Power Company Limited (TATAPOWER) commissions 400kV Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Corridor, enhancing NCR’s power infrastructure.
Tata Power Company Limited (TATAPOWER) has successfully commissioned the second element of its Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project in Uttar Pradesh, further strengthening the state’s power transmission infrastructure and enhancing connectivity to the growing electricity demand centers across NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh. Executed through TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, the second element comprises a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line from Khurja to Jalpura spanning 162 circuit kilometres (CKM) and a 400/220 kV GIS substation at Jalpura with 1,000 MVA transformation capacity.
Key Infrastructure Developments
The 162 CKM transmission corridor comprises two circuits of approximately 81 km each and establishes a critical high-voltage link between Khurja and Jalpura. Khurja is an important power node in Western Uttar Pradesh, playing a strategic role in enabling efficient transmission of power towards NCR and Noida. The newly commissioned 400/220 kV GIS substation at Jalpura, with 1,000 MVA transformation capacity, will serve as a major power gateway, enabling the transfer of power from the 400 kV high-voltage grid to the 220 kV network.
Future-Ready Power Infrastructure
This will support the region’s increasing power requirements while enhancing the reliability, resilience, and efficiency of the transmission network. With the commissioning of this transmission corridor and substation, Tata Power further strengthens the infrastructure required to support the next phase of growth in NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh, while contributing to the broader objective of building a robust and future-ready electricity grid for India.
