Jsw Energy Limited Jswenergy Q1 FY26 Acquisition

JSW Energy Limited (NSE: JSWENERGY) today announced the successful completion of the acquisition of 100% of the equity share capital of Maruti Clean Coal & Power Limited (MCCPL), further making MCCPL a wholly-owned subsidiary. MCCPL owns and operates a 300 MW thermal power plant at Korba, Chhattisgarh. The transaction values MCCPL at an Enterprise Value of 1,410 crore, with the asset’s FY26 EBITDA standing at ~279 crore.

Strategic Growth

The acquisition is EBITDA and PAT-accretive from day one, while also reducing the Company’s net leverage and strengthening overall balance sheet resilience. With this acquisition, JSW Energy’s total installed capacity stands at 14,835 MW.

Operational Synergies

Mr. Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, stated, ‘The completion of the MCCPL acquisition reinforces our commitment to disciplined growth and value-accretive opportunities. The asset complements our existing generation portfolio and enhances our ability to deliver dependable power while supporting India’s growing energy needs.’ The plant’s proximity to our Mahanadi facility unlocks operational synergies and strengthens our regional thermal footprint.

Future Outlook

JSW Energy continues to focus on sustainable growth, with a current total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, comprising 14.8 GW operational and 13.6 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewables. The company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

JSW holds in the upper half of its 52-week range, a sign the market backs the stock. D/E of 1.73 is elevated. As a result, debt servicing will compress free cash flow in a high-rate environment. The PEG of 2.96 is on the high side. However, it is acceptable for a quality compounder with a strong moat. The stock gains 3.2% in the last month, recovering from the three-month slide. However, it is too early to call this a confirmed reversal. The business grows revenue at 23.6% and profits at 14.9%, with D/E of 1.73. The stock reflects that strength. Moreover, when fundamentals and price action align, the PEG of 2.96 premium is usually justified. Check Fundamentals of JSW Energy Limited.
