The Ramco Cements Limited Ramcocem Q1 FY27 Results

The Ramco Cements Limited (RAMCOCEM) has announced its standalone un-audited results for Q1 FY27. The company reported a 12% increase in cement sale volume to 4.48 million tons compared to 4 million tons in Q1 FY26. Despite demand disruptions due to state elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal, the company managed to boost its cement capacity utilisation to 70% from 68% in Q1 FY26.

Financial Performance

The net revenue for Q1 FY27 stands at Rs.2,276 crores, marking a 10% year-over-year growth from Rs.2,077 crores in Q1 FY26. The company continues to implement its strategy of matching the right products to the right applications, thereby strengthening its brand equity. However, EBITDA for Q1 FY27 declined to Rs.314 crores from Rs.404 crores in Q1 FY26, a drop of 22% due to increased costs of fuel and packing materials caused by the West Asia war and a 5% drop in realisation.

Cost and Operational Challenges

The levy of mineral bearing land tax in Tamil Nadu, effective from April 2025, resulted in a variable cost impact of Rs.39 crores for the company in Q1 FY27. The company, along with other cement companies, has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Government for a reduction in the levy, which is under consideration. Moreover, the fuel cost per ton of cement increased to Rs.1,326/- in Q1 FY27 from Rs.1,222/- in Q1 FY26, primarily driven by the escalation in imported fuel costs due to geopolitical disruptions in West Asia.

The company plans to achieve a cement capacity of ~31 MTPA by debottlenecking existing units and expanding at Kolimigundala during FY27. The capital expenditure for Q1 FY27 was Rs.176 crores, and the capex guidance for FY27 is estimated at Rs.800 crores. The company has also realised a profit of Rs.13 crores from the sale of surplus lands in Q1 FY27.

As a result, the company remains focused on its growth strategy while managing operational and cost challenges effectively.

The moves sideways over three months, with neither buyers nor sellers taking control. Thin margins at 7.7% leave limited room for error — any demand softness or cost spike hits the bottom line hard. The PEG of 1.04 sits close to fair value. The stock is neither a clear buy nor obviously expensive. Buyers show up with 1.5x the volume of sellers. Moreover, they dominated on 17 of recent sessions versus 13 for sellers — a healthy accumulation pattern. Both the business and the stock move in the right direction. Revenue grows at 3.3%, profits at 30.5%, and the PEG sits at 1.04 — below its growth rate. That combination is rare. Check Fundamentals of The Ramco Cements Limited.
